Located in a sensual setting up a marble and wood flight of stairs in central downtown Santa Cruz, LionFish SupperClub's new venture, Ulterior, remains a hidden gem.  With some of the best bartenders in the city, food that is locally source, organic, or foraged as often as possible, and an epic wooden carved bar & bistro setting unparalleled in Santa Cruz, LionFish is happy to announce its presence as permanent resident of the UpStairs@MOTIV Kitchen.

We know that wherever you gather, it is the good company gathered around the table that makes the memories.  We at LionFish recognize that, and by providing the epitome of excellently sourced products, flavor combinations to excite the senses, and service and kitchen staff who make & serve our food with a smile & a laugh create an unforgettable experience. "Arriving to the country location for the Feast of the Forest dinner was enchanting. A beautifully laid out table under lights, with heat lamps and warming fires all around awaited us for dinner. And before we sat down we were treated to very delicious savory hors d'oeuvres, crab cakes & portabella pizza with our first wine from MJA Vinyard. Everyone from the guests to the chefs were genuinely friendly and engaging. Throughout the evening were kept informed about all the wines and foods we were having which inspired great conversation about foraging, cooking and experiential dining. EXECUTIVE CHEF        ZACHARY MAZI

 

 

       OWNER                             TIGHE MELVILLE

Chef Zachary Williams (Mazi) has been working in the fine dining arena for the greater part of a decade.  Graduating magna cum laude from Le Cordon Bleu in 2006, he has worked in 5-start restaurants, for fine-dining caterers, as a culinary instructor, and private/personal chef.  Throughout these years, Zachary has accumulated a wide range of food knowledge: science, lore, foraging, a variety of world cuisines, and a special way of tickling tastebuds.  Zachary grew up in the bountiful Pacific Northwest, surrounded by farms and foods, and cut his culinary teeth under the auspices of Portland, Oregon’s unparalleled food scene.  To describe him as passionate about food, especially mushrooms--both for the culinary and medicinal qualities of freshness--is quite the understatement. 

Zachary currently lives in the mountains Santa Cruz, California, where he was recently voted “Best Personal Chef in Santa Cruz” in the GoodTimes Weekly Best Of 2014.  He currently works as Chief Health Officer of Food Is Medicine Health Coaching, and Executive Chef for the LionFish SupperClub.

Tighe Melville’s love for organizing and hosting events was born at an early age.  In high school, Tighe began event planning, organizing parties and events for his community.  The success of these events lit a match that burns brightly today.  He began fine tuning his hosting and service skills in his hometown of Capitola, California. Shortly after, he moved to San Francisco and joined Wolfgang Puck Catering, further developing his passion for event organization and management in the fine dining arena.  Quickly moving up the ranks, he captained many high-profile events and dinners and gained valuable experience in the high-pressure world of corporate event planning.

Further inspired by the culture of food during travels in Southeast Asia, Tighe solidified his desire to bring people together around excellent food and enrolled in Cabrillo College’s Culinary and Hospitality Management Program.  In October of 2013, the inaugural LionFish SupperClub event took place, and history was made.  Now, with over a decade in the hospitality industry, Tighe’s passion for bringing people together to celebrate life’s bounty comes through within each bite, sip and delicate conversation.

He currently lives in Pleasure Point and surfs and camps the California coast in his free time.
